In the early 1970s he moved to the state capital, Sacramento. Perry had three failed attempts with a musical band before finally making Journey . The first was the band Ice he worked with Music producer Scott Mathews, progressive rock band, “Pieces” he formed in 1975 in Thousand Oaks, California with Tim Bogert and “Alien Project” in Banta, California.

Perry’s music career struggles ended when Walter Herbert, the manager of San Francisco-based “Journey,” called him to help with the then-ailing band.

Steve Perry used to have a girlfriend, KellieNash, who was a PhD in psychology. Perry first saw Nash in a video clip put together by a friend, Patty Jenkins, a film producer and director of Wonder Woman who was then setting up a breast cancer-related project.

Kelli Nash happened to be one of the cancer survivors covered in the video. Patty helped Perry get in touch with Kellie, and after a few meetings, the duo fell deeply in love. That was sometime in 2013.

At that time, Kellie Nash had the fourth stagecancer. Despite knowing full well that Nash would soon die from the disease, Perry carried on with the relationship, secretly believing in his heart that their love would cure her cancer.

Unfortunately, and contrary to his beliefs, the deadly virus later claimed Kellie’s life in December 2014. Prior to her death, Perry Nash promised that he would no longer be living in solitary confinement after she left. In fulfillment of that promise, Perry decided to get back to work.

Steve Perry sure has had a number of romantic relationships over the years. But Kellie is the only woman he’s gone public with so far. He also had a girlfriend, Sherrie Swafford, in the ’80s, whom he featured in his 1984 single ” Oh Sherrie .” Meanwhile, Perry has never been married.
