Rocky marciano biography book

I am a fighter, that is how I came to admire Rocky Marciano, it is as simple as that. As a child I took up boxing when I was knocked to the ground by one punch and wanted to know how the other kid was able to do it, so he took me to the local boxing class and on my first night I sparred with him where as luck would have it I faced the kid himself and knocked him flat on his back, from then I was hooked.

Back then, when I first found that I could fight I looked up to Marvin Hagler who wore the Middleweight crown, and even now I still admire him greatly, but it was to my father that I owe my life time interest in Marciano.

My father was a very down to earth man but when he spoke of Marciano his eyes lit up, you could sense the admiration oozing from him as he spoke and that moved my young eager mind so much that I instantly became fascinated with this man who moved my father so much.

Over the years I picked up information here and there, and kept up my interest in the man himself whilst my boxing career faded away through my own weak will, later I would earn a living as a leg breaker, a bouncer, and sometime body guard to some of the great names in show business, and it was in these years that I came to realize that there was so much more to Marciano than had been covered before.

Through my own experience of fighting and fighters I knew that a certain character was needed to fight, and through my close association with fame behind the scenes I came to understand that what we see is not always who they are.

As time moved further on I became a family man and priorities changed, my child was growing and I was losing out on her life, my relations with other family members were strained because of the environment I breathed day in and day out and so I knew I needed to move away from the world I inhabited and find a new means of looking after my family, so, I found a job in the retail environment, it is easy money but oh so far removed from my past that often I find a deep depression sweeps through me and I hide should anyone who knew me wander in to view. I knew I had to do something fulfilling, that is when the idea of putting together this project struck me.

I had read all the books there were to read on Marciano and knew from experience that there was so much missing, every life has an evolution, yet the authors who had gone before me had seemed to skip and jump ahead with out explaining how Rocky moved from A to B to C, there was so little information in those titles available on his military career, his early amateur fights, those years that proved pivotal in making him a man that I thought I should at least try to find them and piece his life together again.

Now I knew that it would not be easy, but I fought and I found the way and the result is the first volume available on Amazon today.

Now I am not saying that the project is perfect, it can still be improved, and yes it is only the first volume of three, but I have made it this far and will go all the way to the end.

The man who first inspired my fascination with Rocky is gone now (and I miss him deeply) but my Family remains and it is for them that I struggle forward, after all if you can not strive to better yourself for your family what else have you got.
